Arjun Jayakrishna

Arjun Jayakrishna has written for BioExplorer since 2022, covering the taxonomy, behavior, and conservation of several major bird orders. He has also contributed to BioExplorer's coverage of monkeys, apes, and other primates.

In 2026, Arjun completed Ornithology: Comprehensive Bird Biology, a university-level continuing education course from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology covering avian anatomy, physiology, sensory biology, vocal behavior, foraging ecology, breeding biology, migration, and population ecology. He earned a 93% course average and 10.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) issued by Cornell University's Continuing Education office. He is also pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Science (HBSc) at the University of Toronto Mississauga, with a Specialist in Computer Science and a Major in Applied Statistics. At UTM, Arjun has held leadership roles including Vice President of Human Resources at the UTM Society of Algorithmic Modelling (UTMSAM) and Vice President of Web Development at the UTM chapter of the Undergraduate Research Students' Association (URSA).

Beyond his academic work, Arjun is an active birder and wildlife photographer. His travels through North America, South Asia, and southern Africa have taken him across diverse bird habitats, and he photographs the species he encounters along the way. He uploads these photos to eBird, Cornell Lab's global citizen science platform, where they are archived in the Macaulay Library.
