Gardenia jasminoides, commonly known as cape jasmine or Common Gardenia, are native to Japan and southern China. The genus Gardenia is a genus of over 140 species[1] of trees and shrubs of the Rubiaceae family.

Gardenia is a coniferous shrub with dark green, glossy, thick leaves (up to 4โณ long). Usually, it grows 3 to 6โ in height. The leaves are arranged in whorls or oppositely.
It is primarily known for its highly aromatic white blooms (up to 3 inches in diameter), borne in small groups or singly.
The flowers bloom year-round in warm climates where temperatures do not drop below 60ยฐF., but most often from the end of spring to summer in cooler climates.
